3 Contoh Legenda dan Terjemahannya

KOMPAS.com - Legenda adalah cerita rakyat yang diyakini terjadi pada masa lampau. Biasanya legenda ini berkaitan dengan terjadinya suatu peristiwa atau tempat.

Berikut tiga contoh legenda beserta terjemahannya:

The Legend of White Siamang

A king named Tuanku Raja Kecik held a party to find a mate for his beautiful granddaughter, Puti Julian. On the night before the party, Puti Julian dreamed of meeting a young man named Sutan Rumandung.

He then becomes an ordinary human and descends to the village. When it came down, in the village there was a village merti ceremony. However, the residents did not warmly welcome Baru and instead chased Baru away because of his tattered appearance.

Luckily, he was greeted by Nyai Latung, an old woman from the village. Baru Klinting then sought the attention of the villagers by sticking sticks into a wooden mortar. He gave an order who managed to pull it out. Apparently no one removed it.

Baru Klinting pulled it out, immediately water came out of the ground. Eventually, the water submerged the entire village. The pool of water later became known as Rawa Pening.

The moral message from this legend is to respect other people and don't hate each other. Don't judge people by their outward appearance.
