Lagu ini dirilis pada akhir Agustus 2019, sekitar empat bulan sebelum kematian Juice WRLD pada Desember 2019. 

"Graduation" menjadi kolaborasi kedua antara benny blanco dan Juice WRLD setelah sebelumnya mereka berkolaborasi dalam lagu "Roses" pada 2018.
